June 27th

Sign up now for the June 27th project.

Project Details:
Ken Stowell has our group assisting with the Buildings and Grounds Repairs in the valley. We have three big projects this year. The first one will be this weekend where we will be working on the Volunteer Wilderness Center. This will involve a little demolition (removing/building a wall to make a room a little bigger) and some work outside of the building too. I really need a lot of people for this project. the other two projects this summer will be working on the two Amphitheaters in Yosemite.

Ken will meet us at our campsite Saturday at 9:00am.

How this Works:
A few days prior to the weekend, I will send you a gate pass for free admission to the park, along with information on the location of our campsite. We will start work at 9 a.m. Saturday and finish near 3 p.m. The work will be such that you can work at your own pace, and the NPS will provide all required tools.

You're free to do as you like after we complete the project. Some people will go climbing while others may go for a hike.

Please be awake by 8:00 a.m. on Saturday and ready to leave no later than 8:30. It does take a while to eat, clean up and get ready to work.

Previous Projects:
Previous projects can be viewed in the Gallery.

Work Gear:
Please bring proper shoes to work in (NO TEVAS OR SANDALS). Tennis shoes are OK, hiking boots are better. The park service should have plenty of gloves too, but if you have your own, bring them. Also, be prepared to bring a lunch and some water. We usually take a break around noon and eat.

The weather in Yosemite can change within a few hours. Please be prepared for it.

This information will be provided to you with the Yosemite Gate Pass when you sign up. The Yellow Pines campground has two 'comfort' stations and water is provided. All food MUST be kept in the bear-proof boxes located in each campsite. Updates: Check this page or the web site at http://www.pgvip.net for some updates and other details.

Need Ride

Hi all, I am currently visiting CA and would like to go on this trip, but need a ride. I can probably leave from most anywhere in the Bay Area. I will be in SF on Friday, but my family can probably drop me in the east bay or penninsula. I can also meet at a BART station. Of course I will pitch in for gas. Also, all I have is my sleeping bag, mat, and of course climbing gear, so any other camping gear you would be willing to share would be great! Thanks, Christine Janowiak

Ride on Friday

If you still need a ride, e-mail me at kevinuyeda@yahoo.com. I'll be leaving from the South Bay around 6:30-7. Probably the best place to meet would be in Pleasanton.
